Frequently Asked Questions

ABSOLUTELY! I would never expect someone to invest their time, money, and energy into a therapist they’ve never met! I am incredibly intentional in building my caseload, both because I want to work within community where my strengths and expertise can be best utilized, and because I want to make sure that people receive the best care possible to match their needs.
You’ll have the opportunity to ask me anything that will help you make a confident decision about moving forward together, so it’s a great idea to come prepared with some questions so you can utilize this time well. You are free to share as much (or as little) as you’d like with me about what you hope to focus on in sessions. This is also a time that we can discuss practical things like practice policies, scheduling, fees, & session frequency. We’ll chat for about 15-20 minutes, and meet via a private Zoom call so we can see each other’s faces!

Initial Consultation: FREE (15-20 min)
Individual, Couples, Family: $200/50-min session
Coaching Services: $200/50-min session
Double sessions (110 min) are an option if we mutually agree that a particular issue would benefit from extra time; these are by arrangement and will be charged at a slightly discounted hourly rate ($380/110-min session).
I also offer Couples Therapy Intensives, which can be arranged by request, and take place over a few days of extended-length sessions. Please reach out for more information!

I offer a limited number of sliding scale spaces, highly prioritized by a combination of financial need and socio-politically marginalized/oppressed status. Please be mindful when deciding to request these types of accommodations, as sliding scale rates are meant to act as a form of economic justice.*
When individuals with some financial privilege pay full-fee rates, they are also directly funding the therapy of those for whom full-fee therapy is not accessible. This small-scale mutual aid allows me to see a greater number and variety of clients from a wide range of backgrounds and social locations.

I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I am unable to bill insurance directly. However, many of my clients have success with “superbills”; this is essentially a paid invoice, which can be submitted to your insurance company for possible reimbursement or to pay down a deductible. Please contact your insurance company directly to inquire about this type of benefit, and feel free to request superbill statements after our sessions if this applies.

The work that I do as an LMFT is considered “talk therapy” or psychotherapy, and is well-suited to anyone who is interested in self-exploration and discovery, healing, psychoeducation, and a better quality of life and relationships.
This type of therapy is not appropriate for: people in active addiction or chronic substance misuse, partners engaging in active physical abuse (intimate partner violence), people who have recently attempted or are actively planning self-harm/suicide, or people seeking intensive outpatient treatment. I hold no biases against those who are experiencing or have experienced these types of distress; these cases simply require a higher and more intensive level of care than my practice is set up to provide. A list of other types of mental health services in the Philly area is available here.

I have a comfy and accessible in-person office space in Center City Philadelphia, and I’m also able to offer telehealth as an option during all of my clinical hours. My licenses as an LMFT are currently held in Pennsylvania and Virginia. This means that I’m able to see therapy clients that are physically located in the state of PA or VA at the time of therapy (this does not mean that you need to be a resident of those states). There are also limited protections in place for continuity of care if you are an established client who is briefly and temporarily located in another state (i.e. on work travel, family emergency).
Outside of my licensure, I am also able to see clients in other locations for the purposes of consultation, coaching, & supervision, which are distinct and separate from receiving therapeutic treatment.

This is largely determined on a case-by-case basis, as we develop a relationship and start to establish goals for our work together. Generally, I recommend beginning with weekly sessions (if this is financially accessible for you) so that we can create some momentum and continuity. Then, as long as you are not in crisis and it’s safe to do so, we can reassess frequency; many of my clients enjoy coming to sessions weekly, even after they are seeing positive changes, but others feel that biweekly, monthly, or as-needed check-ins fit their lives better.
